THE FUR COATS
The Fur Coats are a psychedelic pop/soul sextet based in Portland. An explosion of color and sound onstage, theirs is an extremely tight-knit collective — at their inception, most of them lived together in a haunted mansion (several still keep an address there, and they continue to use its basement as band headquarters) — and that intense closeness is clear in both their writing and performance.

Oregon’s Nick Gamer writes dark, cinematic Americana songs that sound equally at home in the western cosmos of Lucinda Williams and The Byrd’s Sweetheart of the Rodeo. A former guitarist for Japanese Breakfast and frontman of Le Rev, Gamer has traded indie pop hooks for the high lonesome wail of the pedal steel.
